Born and raised in country Queensland, I have always felt a strong connection to the land and a need to walk the earth with bare feet. Nature, like art, is an intrinsic part of my life and my identity.
I was lucky enough to have the freedom to express myself through art throughout school, and then as an elective at university. While finishing my Bachelor's in Communications I enrolled at TAFE to study sculpture, which allowed me to play with clay, woodwork and found media.
While at University, I became interested in cubism and the shifting shapes, tones and angles. From this, I developed my stylised "triangle" design, which I explored through painting and drawing. In 2010, I showcased my triangles technique in my first solo exhibition and my first group exhibition.
In 2011, I moved to Singapore. It was a very different environment to country Queensland, and I found myself yearning for flora and fauna. I became determined to seek out nature in any shape or form. It's here that my passion for macro photography began, as I took any opportunity I could to capture images of raindrops glistening on leaves scattered outside our apartment block, or the light reflecting off the wings of dragonflies poised on water lilies at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. While overseas, I was also fortunate enough to take classes in drawing, screen printing and ceramics.
In 2013, I exhibited my photography as part of a group exhibition in Kingaroy, Queensland, with four other artists, including my mum.
Returning to Melbourne in 2014, I continued to express my love of nature through photography. I was fortunate enough to have one of my images selected as one of the 50 most powerful images for Canon Australia in 2014. I was also able to work as an artist in residence at a primary school where I taught students how to capture storytelling through photography.
In 2019, my photography was included in A Good Life, a group exhibition held in honour of an inspirational artist and dear family friend, Trish Goosens.
As lockdown hit Melbourne in 2019, I started to explore, and fall in love with, ceramics once again. In 2023, I exhibited my first ceramic piece as part of the 1000 VASES international group exhibition in Paris.
I continue to experiment and explore new ways of making, and I'm grateful to be able to share my passion for creating with you.
